Aditya Narayan mentioned that he and Udit Narayan have learnt from their mistakes, which is the most important thing.
Udit Narayan and Aditya Narayan have been in the limelight for decades. They have received immense love from fans, but have also been subjected to controversies. For Aditya, back in 2017, a video of the singer arguing with an airline’s staff went viral across social media platforms, creating a tough row. In the video, the airline staff alleged that Aditya had abused them, and the singer maintained that this was not the case. During the argument, Aditya Narayan infamously said, “Teri chaddhi na utaari maine toh mera naam bhi Aditya Narayan nahi."
As for Udit Narayan, a video went viral more recently, showing the legendary singer planting kisses on the cheeks of female fans. Both incidents created much uproar on social media. Now, in an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, Aditya mentions that while one gets used to the constant public scrutiny, it is also important to acknowledge one’s mistake and learn from it.
Aditya Narayan tells us, “You get used to it… I have never promised that I am a perfect human being, which is why you must listen to my music. We are all flawed, every single human being. My understanding of life so far is that a large part of our existence is experience. You enjoy good experiences, and you learn from the bad experiences. As human beings, we are all entitled to make mistakes, right? You cannot call someone out for making a mistake."
The singer explains, “Do we admit that these are mistakes? Absolutely, why would we not? I am imperfect. Yes, I have made mistakes. I mean, this is just one mistake probably caught on camera, but I have also made other mistakes (laughs). I accept who I am because when you look at the larger picture, the love we receive is incomparable to the scrutiny."
Aditya Narayan admits that celebrities are let off the hook easily when they make mistakes. He says that people get mad at artists for a few days, but eventually let go of the anger once a new project is announced. “We have a lot of privileges and advantages. I acknowledge that, and I navigate life with the sense that this will happen. But you cannot rob me of my right to being human. Similarly, I cannot tell people that I am perfect and make no mistakes. I accept my beautiful self with all my strengths and weaknesses," he adds.
Reflecting on the kiss controversy Udit Narayan found himself embroiled in, Aditya says, “Just because he’s a living legend now, doesn’t mean he has suddenly become a demi-god. He’s very much human. Trust me. I interact with him regularly, and we have a lot of disagreements (laughs). It’s a part of human experience."
“Do we learn from our mistakes? Absolutely, yes. We are just like anybody else, but with glorified jobs. So, some fragments of our lives get projected on social media, which thrives on negativity. Just like our bodies run on blood, social media runs on negativity. Acchi cheezon se lena dena nahi hai internet ko. You have to take it with a pinch of salt. But most importantly, you should acknowledge your mistakes and take ownership, which I do, and so does my father," Aditya concludes.
